Foreman (Welding)
Job Summary:
The Welding Foreman is responsible for overseeing all welding activities on site. This includes managing a team of welders and weld helpers, ensuring all welding is performed according to approved procedures, and maintaining the highest levels of quality, safety, and productivity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise, schedule, and assign tasks to welding personnel.
- Ensure all welders are qualified for the processes (SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, FCAW) and materials (carbon steel, stainless steel, alloys) they are assigned.
- Strictly enforce the use of Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Records (PQR).
- Oversee weld quality, including visual inspection, and coordinate with QC/NDT departments (RT, UT, MPI).
- Manage welding equipment, consumables, and pre/post-heat treatment activities.
- Maintain accurate welder qualification logs, weld maps, and inspection records.
- Enforce safety standards related to hot work permits, confined space, fume extraction, and PPE.
- Troubleshoot welding problems and provide technical guidance to the team.
- Foster a culture of quality and continuous improvement.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Certified Welder with a minimum of 5-7 years of experience in industrial welding, including 2+ years in a lead or supervisory role.
- IWI/IWE certification or equivalent is a major advantage.
- Deep knowledge of international welding standards (ASME IX, EN ISO 15614, EN 287).
- Experience with various NDT methods and quality documentation.
- Strong leadership, planning, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read complex fabrication and welding drawings.
- Fluency in Romanian; English is highly desirable for technical documentation.
