Job Summary:
We are looking for a rigorous and detail-oriented Senior QA/QC Engineer to establish, implement, and oversee the project’s Quality Management System (QMS). You will ensure that all materials, workmanship, and construction activities comply with project specifications, relevant standards, and statutory regulations. Your role is fundamental to delivering a defect-free project, ensuring safety, durability, and client satisfaction.
Detailed Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain the Project Quality Plan (PQP), Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), and all associated quality procedures in line with ISO 9001 standards.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of construction activities, materials, and equipment at the site and in supplier workshops to verify compliance with specifications.
- Review and approve material submittals, method statements, and inspection requests (IRs).
- Manage the non-conformance report (NCR) process, ensuring non-compliant items are identified, quarantined, and corrective/preventive actions are implemented and closed out.
- Maintain comprehensive quality records, including inspection reports, test certificates, calibration records, and weld logs.
- Coordinate and witness all required laboratory and field tests (concrete, soil, welding NDT, pressure testing, etc.).
- Liaise with client representatives, third-party inspection agencies, and certification bodies for all quality-related matters.
- Conduct quality induction and training for project staff and workforce to foster a culture of quality excellence.
- Prepare weekly and monthly quality reports for project management.
Key Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a relevant engineering discipline from a reputable university.
- Experience: Minimum of 7 years of post-qualification experience in a dedicated QA/QC role within the construction industry.
- Industry Background: Experience with both consulting and contracting companies is highly valued, providing a holistic view of quality expectations (client/consultant) and practical implementation (contractor).
- Project Exposure: Direct experience on water infrastructure, utility networks, pumping stations, or similar heavy civil projects is highly preferred. Must be familiar with the specific materials, standards (e.g., AWWA, ASTM, BS), and testing regimes for such projects.
- Certifications: Lead Auditor certification in ISO 9001 and other relevant professional quality certifications (e.g., ASQC, CQI) are significant advantages.
