Job Title: Senior Draftsman (Architectural / Civil / Mechanical / Electrical)
Job Summary
The Senior Draftsman is responsible for leading the preparation of detailed technical drawings and ensuring accuracy, quality, and compliance with project specifications. The role involves coordinating with engineers, architects, and site teams while supervising junior draftsmen and managing drawing outputs.
Key Responsibilities
Advanced Drafting & Design
- Prepare and review complex technical drawings, layouts, and plans
- Develop detailed 2D drawings and 3D models based on design concepts
- Ensure accuracy, clarity, and compliance with standards and specifications
- Modify drawings based on engineering or architectural inputs
Team Supervision
- Guide and support junior draftsmen in daily drafting tasks
- Review and approve drawings prepared by junior staff
- Provide technical assistance and training when required
Project Coordination
- Coordinate with engineers, architects, consultants, and site teams
- Ensure timely submission of drawings as per project schedule
- Clarify drawing-related issues with site execution teams
Quality Control
- Ensure all drawings meet company drafting standards and industry codes
- Check dimensions, scaling, and technical accuracy of drawings
- Maintain consistency across all project documentation
Documentation & Management
- Maintain drawing registers, revisions, and version control
- Prepare as-built drawings and final documentation
- Manage digital drawing archives and filing systems
Software & Tools
- Use advanced drafting and modeling software (AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks, etc.)
- Ensure efficient use of software tools for productivity and accuracy
Qualifications & Skills
Education
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Drafting
Experience
- 5–10 years of experience in drafting and design preparation
Skills
- Expert-level proficiency in AutoCAD and relevant design software
- Strong understanding of technical drawings and industry standards
- Ability to interpret complex engineering/architectural concepts
