Job Title: Commis Chef
Job Summary
A Commis Chef is an entry-level kitchen professional who supports senior chefs in food preparation and basic cooking tasks. This role is ideal for individuals starting their culinary career and looking to gain hands-on experience in a professional kitchen.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and cooking of food under the supervision of senior chefs
- Prepare ingredients (chopping, peeling, cutting, marinating, etc.)
- Follow recipes and portion control guidelines
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and workstations
- Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene standards
- Store ingredients properly and monitor stock levels
- Help in receiving and checking deliveries
- Support different kitchen sections as needed (e.g., pantry, hot kitchen)
- Learn kitchen operations and improve cooking skills
Qualifications & Skills
- Diploma or certification in Culinary Arts or related field (preferred)
- Basic knowledge of cooking techniques and kitchen equipment
- Understanding of food safety and hygiene practices
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness to learn and take direction
