Job Title: Urology Surgeon (Urologist)
Job Summary
A Urology Surgeon is a medical specialist who diagnoses, treats, and performs surgical procedures for diseases and disorders of the urinary tract in both males and females, as well as the male reproductive system. This includes kidneys, ureters, bladder, urethra, and male reproductive organs.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and manage urological conditions such as:
- Kidney stones
- Urinary tract infections (UTIs)
- Prostate disorders (BPH, prostate cancer)
- Bladder and kidney diseases
- Male infertility and erectile dysfunction
- Perform diagnostic procedures including:
- Ultrasound and imaging interpretation
- Cystoscopy
- Urodynamic studies
- Perform surgical procedures such as:
- Kidney stone removal (PCNL, URS)
- Prostate surgery (TURP, prostatectomy)
- Bladder surgery
- Kidney and urinary tract surgeries
- Minimally invasive and laparoscopic urological procedures
- Provide medical and post-surgical care
- Prescribe medications and long-term treatment plans
- Educate patients on urinary and reproductive health
- Collaborate with nephrologists, oncologists, and other specialists
Required Qualifications
- MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery)
- MS/DNB in General Surgery followed by MCh/DNB in Urology (or equivalent)
- Valid medical license
- Additional fellowship training in advanced urology (optional)
