Job Title: General Nurse Assistant (Healthcare Assistant)
Job Summary
A General Nurse Assistant supports registered nurses and other healthcare professionals in providing basic patient care and maintaining a safe, clean, and comfortable hospital or clinic environment. They assist with daily patient needs and help ensure smooth functioning of healthcare services.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist patients with daily living activities such as:
- Bathing, grooming, and hygiene care
- Feeding and mobility support
- Help nurses in basic clinical tasks under supervision
- Measure and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, blood pressure, etc.)
- Assist in patient positioning, transfers, and transportation within the facility
- Maintain cleanliness of patient rooms and care areas
- Change linens and ensure proper bed care
- Support infection control and hygiene protocols
- Observe and report changes in patient condition to nursing staff
- Assist during basic medical procedures as instructed
- Provide comfort and emotional support to patients
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (minimum requirement in many settings)
- Certificate in Nursing Assistance / Healthcare Assistance (preferred)
- Basic training in first aid or caregiving (advantage)
- On-the-job training may be provided in some hospitals
