Job Title: Chemistry Teacher (IGCSE – Experienced)
Job Summary:
The Chemistry Teacher (IGCSE) is responsible for delivering high-quality chemistry instruction to secondary students preparing for Cambridge IGCSE examinations. The role focuses on developing students’ conceptual understanding of chemistry, practical laboratory skills, and exam readiness in line with Cambridge curriculum standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Teaching & Instruction
- Teach Chemistry to IGCSE students following the Cambridge curriculum
- Deliver engaging lessons covering topics such as atomic structure, bonding, acids and bases, organic chemistry, and electrochemistry
- Develop students’ understanding of scientific concepts and real-life applications
- Conduct both theoretical and practical lessons effectively
2. Curriculum Planning
- Prepare lesson plans, schemes of work, and teaching materials aligned with IGCSE syllabus
- Ensure complete and timely syllabus coverage
- Integrate experiments, demonstrations, and ICT tools into lessons
3. Assessment & Exam Preparation
- Design and administer tests, quizzes, and mock examinations
- Prepare students for IGCSE theory and practical examinations
- Analyze student performance and provide targeted academic support
- Conduct revision sessions and exam-focused practice activities
4. Laboratory Management & Practical Work
- Plan and supervise chemistry experiments and practical investigations
- Ensure strict adherence to laboratory safety procedures
- Guide students in recording, analyzing, and interpreting experimental data
5. Classroom Management
- Maintain a disciplined, safe, and engaging classroom environment
- Encourage inquiry-based and student-centered learning
- Manage classroom resources and laboratory equipment effectively
6. Student Support
- Provide additional support to students who need academic improvement
- Encourage and challenge high-achieving students
- Foster interest in chemistry and related scientific careers
7. Communication & Collaboration
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress
- Participate in parent-teacher meetings and school events
- Collaborate with science department colleagues and school leadership
8. Professional Development
- Stay updated with Cambridge IGCSE syllabus updates and best practices
- Participate in training, workshops, and departmental development activities
- Contribute to science department planning and school improvement initiatives
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry or related field
- Recognized teaching qualification (B.Ed or equivalent preferred)
- Proven experience teaching Cambridge IGCSE Chemistry
- Strong knowledge of IGCSE exam structure and assessment standards
