Job Title: Welding Technical Support Engineer / Welding Technical Support Specialist
Job Summary:
A Welding Technical Support Engineer is responsible for providing technical assistance and support related to welding processes, equipment, consumables, and applications. The role involves troubleshooting welding issues, assisting clients and project teams, ensuring compliance with welding standards, and supporting successful project execution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical support for welding operations, procedures, and applications
- Assist clients and internal teams in selecting suitable welding processes, equipment, and consumables
- Review welding procedures, specifications (WPS/PQR), and technical documentation
- Troubleshoot welding-related issues and recommend corrective actions
- Ensure compliance with welding codes, standards, and safety regulations
- Coordinate with engineering, quality, production, and project teams
- Conduct site inspections, welding evaluations, and technical assessments
- Support welding qualification tests and inspections when required
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and documentation
- Provide technical training and guidance to welders, supervisors, and customers
- Participate in client meetings, technical discussions, and product demonstrations
- Maintain accurate technical records and project documentation
Qualifications:
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Welding Engineering, Metallurgy, or related field
- Certification in welding inspection or welding technology (CSWIP, AWS-CWI, etc.) is an advantage
- Previous experience in welding, fabrication, oil & gas, construction, or manufacturing industries preferred
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of welding processes (SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, FCAW, etc.)
- Familiarity with welding materials, consumables, and inspection methods
- Good understanding of welding standards and quality requirements
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to read welding drawings and technical specifications
- Good communication and teamwork abilities
- Attention to detail and technical reporting skills
Working Conditions:
- Combination of office-based work and site/factory visits
- May involve working in industrial, fabrication, or construction environments
