Position Summary
The French Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging and effective French language instruction to elementary and middle school students. The teacher will develop students' listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills while fostering an appreciation of French language and culture. The role requires creating a positive and inclusive learning environment that supports academic achievement and student development.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Learning
- Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality French language lessons aligned with the school curriculum.
- Teach French language skills, including speaking, listening, reading, writing, grammar, and vocabulary.
- Use interactive and student-centered teaching strategies to enhance language acquisition.
- Incorporate French culture, traditions, and current events into lessons to enrich learning.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs and abilities of students.
- Utilize technology and multimedia resources to support language learning.
Student Assessment
- Design and administer assessments, quizzes, projects, and examinations.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress regularly.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and attendance.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to students and parents.
- Prepare report cards and progress reports according to school guidelines.
Classroom Management
- Establish and maintain a positive, safe, and engaging classroom environment.
- Promote student participation, collaboration, and respect.
- Implement classroom management strategies consistent with school policies.
Curriculum Development
- Contribute to the development and enhancement of the French language curriculum.
- Prepare lesson plans, instructional materials, and learning resources.
- Participate in curriculum review and academic planning initiatives.
Professional Responsibilities
- Attend staff meetings, professional development programs, and training sessions.
- Collaborate with colleagues, coordinators, and administrators to improve student outcomes.
- Participate in school events, language clubs, cultural celebrations, and extracurricular activities.
- Stay updated on best practices in language teaching and educational technology.
Parent Communication
- Maintain regular communication with parents regarding student progress and achievements.
- Participate in parent-teacher conferences and school meetings.
- Address academic or behavioral concerns in a professional and timely manner.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in French, French Language & Literature, Modern Languages, Education, or a related field.
- Teaching qualification/certification is preferred.
- Master's degree in French or Education is an advantage.
Experience
- Minimum 2–5 years of teaching experience in French language instruction.
- Experience teaching elementary and/or middle school students preferred.
- Experience with international curricula (IB, British, American, or CBSE) is an advantage.
