Position Summary
The Islamic Studies Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging and age-appropriate Islamic education to Arab middle school boys, fostering a strong understanding of Islamic beliefs, values, ethics, and practices. The teacher will create a positive learning environment that promotes spiritual growth, academic excellence, and character development in accordance with the school's educational philosophy and curriculum standards.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Learning
- Plan, prepare, and deliver Islamic Studies lessons for middle school boys.
- Teach core Islamic subjects including:
- Aqeedah (Islamic Creed)
- Fiqh (Islamic Jurisprudence)
- Tafsir (Qur'anic Interpretation)
- Hadith Studies
- Seerah (Life of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ)
- Islamic Ethics and Manners
- Integrate Islamic values into daily classroom activities and student interactions.
- Use diverse teaching strategies to engage students and accommodate different learning styles.
- Encourage critical thinking, discussion, and application of Islamic teachings in daily life.
Student Assessment
- Develop and administer assessments, quizzes, assignments, and examinations.
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate academic records.
- Provide constructive feedback to students and parents regarding academic and behavioral performance.
- Prepare progress reports in accordance with school requirements.
Classroom Management
- Maintain a respectful, disciplined, and inclusive learning environment.
- Foster positive behavior and Islamic character among students.
- Implement school policies and classroom procedures effectively.
Curriculum & Professional Responsibilities
- Participate in curriculum planning, review, and development activities.
- Attend staff meetings, professional development sessions, and school events.
- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance teaching effectiveness and student outcomes.
- Support school-wide Islamic programs, assemblies, competitions, and community events.
Parent & Community Engagement
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress and concerns.
- Participate in parent-teacher meetings and school functions.
- Promote strong partnerships between home and school.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Islamic Studies, Shariah, Usul Al-Din, Education, or a related field.
- Teaching qualification/certification is preferred.
- Master's degree in Islamic Studies or Education is an advantage.
Experience
- Minimum 2–5 years of teaching experience in Islamic Studies, preferably in a middle school setting.
- Experience teaching Arab students and familiarity with Arabic-language curricula is preferred.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of Islamic teachings, Qur'an, Hadith, and Islamic history.
- Fluency in Arabic; proficiency in English is desirable.
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
- Ability to motivate and inspire adolescent learners.
- Strong organizational and lesson-planning skills.
