Position Summary
The Social Studies UAE Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging and curriculum-aligned instruction in UAE Social Studies to non-Arab students. The teacher will promote students’ understanding of the history, geography, culture, heritage, governance, and values of the United Arab Emirates while fostering critical thinking, global awareness, and responsible citizenship. The role requires creating an inclusive learning environment that supports academic achievement and appreciation of UAE national identity.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Learning
- Plan, prepare, and deliver effective Social Studies lessons in accordance with UAE Ministry of Education requirements and school curriculum standards.
- Teach topics related to UAE history, geography, culture, heritage, economy, government, and national identity.
- Foster students’ understanding of UAE values, traditions, and citizenship responsibilities.
- Use diverse teaching methodologies, including inquiry-based, project-based, and collaborative learning approaches.
- Integrate technology and multimedia resources to enhance student engagement.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the varied learning needs of students.
Student Assessment & Progress Monitoring
- Design and administer assessments, assignments, projects, presentations, and examinations.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress and achievement.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and attendance.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to students and parents.
- Prepare progress reports and academic documentation as required.
Classroom Management
- Establish and maintain a positive, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Promote active participation, collaboration, and responsible behavior.
- Implement classroom management strategies aligned with school policies.
Curriculum Development
- Support the development, review, and enhancement of Social Studies curriculum materials.
- Ensure lesson plans and instructional resources align with curriculum objectives and UAE educational standards.
- Participate in curriculum planning and departmental initiatives.
Citizenship & Cultural Awareness
- Encourage appreciation of UAE culture, heritage, and national achievements.
- Promote tolerance, respect, and multicultural understanding among students.
- Support activities and events related to UAE National Day, cultural celebrations, and community initiatives.
- Foster awareness of global issues while connecting learning to the UAE context.
Parent & Community Engagement
- Maintain effective communication with parents regarding student progress and performance.
- Participate in parent-teacher meetings and school events.
- Address academic and behavioral concerns professionally and promptly.
Professional Responsibilities
- Attend staff meetings, professional development sessions, and training programs.
- Collaborate with colleagues and school leadership to improve student outcomes.
- Participate in school activities, educational trips, and extracurricular programs.
- Stay updated on curriculum developments and educational best practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Social Studies, History, Geography, Humanities, Education, or a related field.
- Teaching qualification/certification preferred.
- Master's Degree in Education or a related field is an advantage.
Experience
- Minimum 2–5 years of teaching experience in Social Studies, History, Geography, or related subjects.
- Experience teaching UAE Social Studies or a similar curriculum is preferred.
- Experience working in international schools and multicultural environments is an advantage.
