Job Summary
A Civil & Structural Engineer is responsible for the planning, design, analysis, and supervision of civil and structural works for buildings, industrial facilities, infrastructure, oil & gas projects, power plants, and other construction projects. The role ensures that structures are safe, durable, cost-effective, and compliant with applicable standards and project specifications.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering Design & Analysis
- Design concrete, steel, and composite structures.
- Prepare structural calculations, design reports, and technical specifications.
- Perform load analysis, structural modeling, and foundation design.
- Review architectural and engineering drawings for constructability and compliance.
- Develop structural layouts, details, and reinforcement drawings.
Project Planning & Coordination
- Coordinate with architectural, mechanical, electrical, piping, and project teams.
- Participate in design reviews and multidisciplinary meetings.
- Support project planning, scheduling, and cost estimation activities.
- Review contractor and vendor technical submissions.
Construction Supervision
- Monitor site activities to ensure compliance with approved drawings and specifications.
- Conduct inspections of civil and structural works.
- Resolve technical issues arising during construction.
- Verify quality of materials, workmanship, and construction methods.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure designs and construction activities comply with applicable codes and standards.
- Support quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) processes.
- Participate in risk assessments and safety reviews.
- Assist with audits, inspections, and regulatory approvals.
Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare engineering reports, calculations, and project documentation.
- Review shop drawings, method statements, and material submittals.
- Maintain records of revisions and project changes.
- Provide progress updates and technical reports to project management.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
- Professional engineering certification is an advantage.
- Typically 3–10+ years of experience in civil and structural engineering projects.
- Experience in industrial, infrastructure, building, EPC, oil & gas, or power projects is preferred.
