Job Summary
An Electrical Engineer is responsible for the design, development, installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment. The role ensures that electrical systems operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering Design
- Design electrical power distribution systems for industrial, commercial, and infrastructure projects.
- Prepare single-line diagrams (SLD), load calculations, cable sizing, and equipment specifications.
- Develop electrical layouts, lighting systems, earthing and lightning protection systems.
- Review vendor drawings, technical specifications, and engineering documents.
- Ensure compliance with applicable electrical codes and standards.
Project Execution & Coordination
- Coordinate with civil, mechanical, structural, instrumentation, and project teams.
- Support procurement activities by preparing technical evaluations and material requisitions.
- Provide technical support during installation, construction, and commissioning phases.
- Resolve engineering and site-related electrical issues.
Installation & Commissioning
- Supervise electrical installation activities.
- Inspect electrical equipment, cables, switchgear, transformers, and control panels.
- Participate in testing, commissioning, and energization activities.
- Verify system performance and operational readiness.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and electrical standards.
- Participate in HSE inspections, risk assessments, and safety reviews.
- Support quality assurance and quality control activities.
- Investigate electrical failures and recommend corrective actions.
Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare engineering calculations, reports, and technical documentation.
- Maintain project records, drawings, and revision histories.
- Submit progress reports and technical status updates.
- Review as-built drawings and operation manuals.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Professional engineering certification is an advantage.
- Typically 3–10+ years of experience in electrical engineering, construction, maintenance, or industrial projects.
- Experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, power, manufacturing, infrastructure, or EPC projects is preferred.
