Job Description – Mechanical Engineer (Facilities Management)
A Mechanical Engineer (FM) is responsible for managing, maintaining, and improving mechanical systems within facilities to ensure efficient operation, safety, reliability, and compliance with maintenance standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and supervise mechanical maintenance activities for facility systems.
- Plan and execute preventive and corrective maintenance programs.
- Monitor the performance of mechanical equipment and systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical faults and technical issues.
- Ensure proper operation and maintenance of:
- HVAC systems
- Chillers and cooling systems
- Pumps and motors
- Plumbing systems
- Firefighting systems
- Mechanical equipment and utilities
- Review maintenance schedules, work orders, and service reports.
- Coordinate with technicians, supervisors, contractors, and clients.
- Conduct site inspections and ensure compliance with FM standards.
- Prepare technical reports, maintenance records, and performance reports.
- Ensure all work follows health, safety, and environmental (HSE) requirements.
- Monitor spare parts, tools, and material requirements.
- Support improvement projects and energy-saving initiatives.
- Assist in testing, commissioning, and handover activities when required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum 7+ years of experience in Facilities Management (FM).
- Experience in Qatar/GCC FM projects is preferred.
- UPDA certification is preferred (for Qatar-based roles).
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, maintenance practices, and building services.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
- Ability to analyze technical problems and provide solutions.
- Experience with preventive and corrective maintenance.
- Knowledge of FM standards and maintenance procedures.
- Ability to manage teams and coordinate contractors.
- Good reporting and documentation skills.
- Strong communication and leadership abilities.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures.
