Job Description – HVAC Engineer (Facilities Management)
A HVAC Engineer (FM) is responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems within facilities to ensure efficient operation, occupant comfort, safety, and compliance with maintenance standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and supervise HVAC maintenance activities across facilities.
- Plan and implement preventive and corrective maintenance programs.
- Monitor HVAC system performance and ensure reliable operation.
- Troubleshoot and resolve HVAC equipment faults and technical issues.
- Maintain and oversee systems including:
- Chillers
- AHU (Air Handling Units)
- FCU (Fan Coil Units)
- VRF/VRV systems
- Package units
- Split AC units
- Ventilation and exhaust systems
- Pumps and related HVAC equipment
- Review maintenance schedules, work orders, and service reports.
- Conduct inspections and performance checks of HVAC equipment.
- Coordinate with technicians, supervisors, contractors, and clients.
- Ensure HVAC systems operate according to design requirements and energy efficiency standards.
- Monitor spare parts, tools, and equipment requirements.
- Prepare technical reports, maintenance records, and performance analysis.
- Support testing, commissioning, and improvement projects.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) procedures.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering / HVAC Engineering or related field.
- Minimum 7+ years of experience in HVAC systems and Facilities Management (FM).
- Experience in Qatar/GCC FM projects is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC maintenance, operations, and troubleshooting.
Required Skills
- Strong understanding of HVAC systems and building services.
- Ability to diagnose and solve HVAC technical problems.
- Knowledge of preventive and corrective maintenance practices.
- Familiarity with BMS (Building Management System) monitoring is an advantage.
- Ability to manage technicians and coordinate contractors.
- Good reporting, documentation, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of energy-saving practices and HVAC optimization.
- Understanding of HSE requirements and safety procedures.

The main objective of an HVAC Engineer (FM) is to ensure efficient, reliable, and safe operation of HVAC systems through effective maintenance planning, troubleshooting, technical supervision, and continuous improvement of facility cooling and ventilation systems.
