Job Description – Civil Engineer (Facilities Management)
A Civil Engineer (FM) is responsible for managing civil maintenance activities, inspecting building structures, coordinating repair works, and ensuring facilities remain safe, functional, and compliant with quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and supervise civil maintenance works within facilities.
- Plan and execute preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
- Inspect buildings, structures, and civil assets to identify defects and required repairs.
- Coordinate repair works such as:
- Masonry works
- Plastering and painting
- Waterproofing
- Flooring and tiling
- Concrete repairs
- Carpentry and general civil works
- Review technical drawings, specifications, and maintenance requirements.
- Prepare work schedules, reports, and maintenance records.
- Supervise technicians, subcontractors, and maintenance teams.
- Conduct site inspections and ensure quality of completed works.
- Coordinate with clients, facility managers, and other engineering teams.
- Monitor materials, tools, and manpower requirements.
- Ensure all civil works comply with safety, quality, and FM standards.
- Assist in improvement projects, refurbishment works, and modifications.
- Ensure compliance with HSE procedures and company policies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
- Minimum 7+ years of experience in Facilities Management (FM).
- Experience in building maintenance, civil works, and FM operations.
- UPDA certification is preferred (for Qatar-based roles).
- Experience in Qatar/GCC facilities projects is an advantage.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of building maintenance and civil construction works.
- Ability to inspect defects and recommend repair solutions.
- Experience supervising contractors and maintenance teams.
- Good understanding of materials, construction methods, and specifications.
- Ability to read engineering drawings.
- Strong reporting and documentation skills.
- Good communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Knowledge of HSE and quality standards.
