Job Description – ELV Technician (Facilities Management)
An ELV Technician (Extra Low Voltage Technician) is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing ELV systems in facilities to ensure reliable operation, safety, and compliance with project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, test, maintain, and troubleshoot ELV systems and equipment.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance activities for ELV systems.
- Inspect and repair security, communication, and building technology systems.
- Handle systems such as:
- CCTV surveillance systems
- Access control systems
- Fire alarm systems
- Public address (PA) systems
- Structured cabling and data networks
- Intercom systems
- SMATV/TV systems
- Audio-visual systems (as applicable)
- Diagnose faults and perform necessary repairs.
- Conduct regular inspections and ensure systems operate properly.
- Follow maintenance schedules and complete service reports.
- Replace faulty components, cables, devices, and equipment.
- Coordinate with engineers, supervisors, and other maintenance teams.
- Maintain accurate records of work completed and materials used.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and quality standards.
- Respond to emergency maintenance requests when required.
Qualifications
- Diploma or technical qualification in Electrical, Electronics, Telecommunications, or a related field.
- Minimum 4+ years of experience in ELV systems, preferably in Facilities Management (FM).
- Experience in Qatar/GCC FM projects is an advantage.
- Knowledge of ELV installation, testing, and maintenance procedures.
Required Skills
- Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding skills.
- Knowledge of ELV systems and low-voltage equipment.
- Ability to read technical drawings and wiring diagrams.
- Basic knowledge of electrical safety procedures.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks.
- Familiarity with maintenance management systems is an advantage.
Main Objective
The main objective of an ELV Technician is to ensure all ELV systems in the facility operate safely, efficiently, and continuously through proper maintenance, troubleshooting, and timely repairs.
