Job Description – Assistant ELV Engineer (Facilities Management)
An Assistant ELV Engineer supports the ELV engineering team in the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and operation of Extra Low Voltage (ELV) systems within facilities. The role involves assisting with technical activities, inspections, and maintenance coordination to ensure reliable system performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist ELV Engineers in managing ELV system operations and maintenance activities.
- Support installation, testing, and troubleshooting of ELV systems.
- Perform inspections and preventive maintenance tasks for ELV equipment.
- Assist in maintaining systems such as:
- CCTV surveillance systems
- Access control systems
- Fire alarm systems
- Public address (PA) systems
- Structured cabling and data networks
- Intercom systems
- SMATV/TV systems
- Audio-visual systems (as applicable)
- Monitor system performance and report faults or abnormalities.
- Assist in diagnosing technical issues and implementing corrective actions.
- Coordinate with technicians, supervisors, and other engineering teams.
- Prepare maintenance reports, checklists, and service records.
- Support testing, commissioning, and system upgrades.
- Ensure work is completed according to safety, quality, and FM standards.
- Maintain proper documentation of ELV assets and maintenance activities.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Telecommunications, or a related field.
- Minimum 4+ years of experience in ELV systems and Facilities Management (FM).
- Experience with ELV installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Experience in Qatar/GCC FM projects is preferred.
Required Skills
- Basic knowledge of ELV systems and building technology.
- Ability to read electrical drawings and wiring diagrams.
- Troubleshooting and fault-finding skills.
- Knowledge of safety procedures and maintenance practices.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to prepare technical reports and documentation.
- Familiarity with BMS and building systems integration is an advantage.
Main Objective
The main objective of an Assistant ELV Engineer is to support ELV operations by assisting with maintenance, troubleshooting, inspections, and technical coordination to ensure all ELV systems function safely, efficiently, and reliably within the facility.
