Senior Business Development Manager — Job Description
Job Summary
The Senior Business Development Manager is responsible for identifying new business opportunities, developing strategic relationships, increasing revenue, and expanding the organization's customer and market base. The role leads business development initiatives, manages key accounts, develops sales strategies, and works closely with internal teams to achieve revenue and growth objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement effective business development and sales strategies to achieve revenue and growth targets.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities, markets, customer segments, and revenue channels.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with corporate clients, key accounts, partners, agencies, and other business stakeholders.
- Develop and manage a pipeline of prospective clients and business opportunities.
- Conduct market research and competitor analysis to identify emerging opportunities and market trends.
- Prepare business proposals, presentations, quotations, contracts, and commercial offers.
- Lead negotiations with clients and business partners while ensuring alignment with company policies and commercial objectives.
- Manage and expand key corporate and strategic accounts.
- Develop customized solutions and commercial packages based on customer requirements.
- Conduct regular sales calls, client meetings, presentations, property visits, networking activities, and business development visits.
- Represent the organization at trade shows, exhibitions, conferences, networking events, and industry functions.
- Establish strategic partnerships and referral networks to generate new business.
- Work closely with Sales, Marketing, Operations, Finance, and other departments to ensure successful delivery of client requirements.
- Monitor sales performance, revenue generation, conversion rates, and business development activities.
- Maintain accurate records of leads, prospects, client interactions, proposals, and sales forecasts in the CRM system.
- Prepare regular sales and business development reports for senior management.
- Develop and maintain an effective sales pipeline and ensure timely follow-up of opportunities.
- Monitor customer satisfaction and identify opportunities for account growth and repeat business.
- Support contract renewals, upselling, cross-selling, and long-term account development.
- Develop and manage sales budgets and business development expenses where applicable.
- Mentor and guide Business Development Executives, Sales Managers, and other team members.
- Set performance objectives and monitor team activities when responsible for a business development team.
- Ensure compliance with company pricing, credit, contractual, and approval policies.
- Provide management with market intelligence, customer feedback, and recommendations for business growth.
- Perform other duties and strategic projects assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Sales, Hospitality Management, or a related field.
- A postgraduate qualification such as an MBA is an advantage.
- Typically 6–10 years of relevant sales/business development experience, with proven experience in a senior or managerial role.
- Experience in hospitality, corporate sales, B2B services, tourism, or a related industry is preferred depending on the organization.
