Store Receiver
Job Summary
The Store Receiver is responsible for physically receiving, inspecting, and storing incoming materials and supplies. This hands-on role ensures that all items received meet quality standards and are properly documented and stored.
Detailed Job Description
Primary Duties:
- Receiving Operations
- Unload delivery vehicles and verify shipment contents
- Count, weigh, or measure items to ensure receipt matches shipping documents
- Inspect incoming materials for damage, defects, or discrepancies
- Operate material handling equipment (pallet jacks, forklifts, etc.) safely
- Documentation & Verification
- Check delivery notes against purchase orders for accuracy
- Record receipts in logbooks or digital systems
- Prepare receiving reports and distribute to relevant departments
- Obtain necessary signatures and approvals on delivery documents
- Storage & Organization
- Properly label and tag all received items
- Store materials in designated locations following warehouse layout
- Ensure storage conditions meet product requirements (temperature, humidity, etc.)
- Maintain organized and clean receiving area
- Quality Assurance
- Identify and segregate damaged or substandard items
- Initiate return processes for unsatisfactory deliveries
- Work with QC personnel for material inspections when required
- Follow all safety and quality protocols during receiving process
- Coordination & Communication
- Notify requesting departments of material arrivals
- Coordinate with inventory controllers for stock updates
- Communicate delivery issues to supervisors and procurement teams
- Assist in periodic stock counts and audits
Technical Skills & Competencies:
- Experience with warehouse management systems
- Ability to operate weighing scales and measuring devices
- Knowledge of material handling equipment (certification preferred)
- Understanding of storage principles and inventory control methods
- Basic computer skills for data entry and reporting
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and move heavy items (specify weight if applicable)
- Capacity to stand for extended periods
- Willingness to work in varying temperature conditions
- Flexibility to work different shifts if required
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (minimum)
- 1-2 years experience in receiving, warehousing, or logistics
- Valid forklift certification (preferred)
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Basic mathematical skills for counting and calculations
