Position Overview:
The Transportation Operation Scheduler is a strategic planner responsible for designing efficient master schedules, routes, and crew/vehicle assignments. This role works ahead of real-time operations to optimize resources, balance costs, and ensure all contractual and customer service level agreements (SLAs) are met through meticulous planning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Master Schedule Development: Create and maintain optimal daily, weekly, and monthly schedules for drivers, vehicles, and routes to meet all service commitments.
- Resource Allocation: Assign vehicles (considering type, capacity, maintenance schedule) and drivers (considering skills, HOS regulations, and shifts) to specific jobs and routes.
- Route Planning & Optimization: Utilize planning software to design the most time-efficient and cost-effective delivery/pickup routes, considering constraints like time windows, load types, and driver availability.
- Capacity Planning: Analyze forecasted demand to ensure adequate fleet and personnel resources are available. Flag potential capacity shortfalls or surpluses.
- Stakeholder Coordination: Work closely with customer service, sales, and warehouse teams to incorporate new orders, planned maintenance, and special projects into the operational schedule.
- Process Improvement: Continuously analyze schedule performance data to identify trends, bottlenecks, and opportunities for improving routing efficiency and resource utilization.
- Reporting: Generate planning reports, capacity forecasts, and schedule adherence analyses for management review.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Nationality: Saudi National.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in transportation scheduling, route planning, or advanced logistics coordination.
- Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in route planning and optimization software (e.g., Descartes, Oracle TMS, Route4Me), advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, macros), and ERP/SAP modules.
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent analytical and strategic planning abilities.
- Strong numerical and data interpretation skills.
- Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple departments.
- Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of transportation regulations, Hours of Service rules, and route planning principles within the Saudi context. Experience with SLAs and KPI-driven planning is crucial.
