Job Summary:
The Senior Estimation Engineer is a key leader within the tendering team, responsible for preparing comprehensive, accurate, and competitive cost estimates for major Oil & Gas EPCIC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Installation, and Commissioning) projects. This role requires a deep understanding of mechanical and piping systems, strategic resource planning, and sophisticated risk analysis to ensure bid viability and profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the preparation of detailed cost estimates for complex EPCIC proposals, focusing on Mechanical and Piping disciplines.
- Analyze tender documents, technical specifications, drawings, and scope of work to identify all cost-influencing factors.
- Perform material take-offs (MTOs), solicit vendor quotations, and prepare detailed cost breakdowns for equipment, materials, and bulk items.
- Estimate man-hours, develop resource-loaded schedules, and calculate direct and indirect labor costs.
- Develop and manage the project risk register, quantifying potential cost impacts and proposing mitigation strategies or contingency sums.
- Coordinate with Engineering, Procurement, and Construction departments to validate methodologies, schedules, and assumptions.
- Prepare and present the commercial and technical rationale of the estimate to senior management for bid approval.
- Mentor and guide junior estimation engineers within the team.
Key Qualifications & Experience:
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years of total professional experience, with all 10 years specifically dedicated to Tendering and Estimation within the Oil & Gas industry.
- Industry Knowledge: Must have proven experience with EPCIC project lifecycle and contracting models.
- Technical Skills: Expertise in cost estimation for Mechanical and Piping systems. Proficiency in estimation software, MS Office, and project scheduling tools.
- Core Competencies: Strong analytical and strategic thinking, excellent negotiation skills, advanced knowledge of risk management, and superior attention to detail.
